“No thanks. 26.2 miles are enough.”
That was my initial reply when I was asked to be an ambassador for the Virgin Money Giving project #extramile. But here’s the thing about #extramile, you only have to run the marathon and the extra mile comes from sharing your experiences, raising even more money for your chosen charity, and winning prizes for the training you are already doing.
When you put it like that? Sign me up.
So this year I’m jumping in with the rest of you marathon lot and training to run the Virgin Money London Marathon 2015! It will be my second marathon and first London Marathon and besides being on the to do list for a few years (Alex is the lucky one in our house and has got 2/4 ballots he’s entered) checked off I can’t wait to take on 26.2 again with so many friends who are also running it.
As an ambassador I’m going to do a few things. First, I’m going to keep my #extramile time capsule by using the hashtag on my instagram & twitter training posts. (Everyone knows I love a good storify). Second, I’m going to be highlighting some of the friends I have running the marathon for charity. There are so many great stories out there and it’s your choice where you donate your hard earned funds for, but it doesn’t hurt to be aware of the causes. Check out Melissa as one of last year’s #extramile inspiration stories!
As a VMLM #extramile media ambassador I have been given complementary entry into the 2015 Virgin Money London Marathon
Woooohoooooo! Great news. I’ll be cheering you on. Locations TBD!
Oooh how exciting! 😀 There will be loads of people to cheer now, great stuff!
Well done! I ran the Virgin Money London Marathon back in 2011, and absolutely loved it! I ran my second marathon last May in Prague and just confirmed my love for long distance running! I am currently looking for where to run my next one! Good luck with your training and believe the swimming for #blogsquad #swimathon15 will help too!
