Smoothies will never take the place of my beloved crumpets & peanut butter, but a couple days a week I love blending up a smoothie to save time in the morning.
I bought the biggest bag of spinach in London at Morrisons the other day and decided to get lazy with it. After washing it I threw it in my cheap Argos blender with a bit of water and and made a spinach paste. Poured into an icecube tray and left it to set over night.
Now I have 24 cubes of spinach to add to my morning smoothies for that extra green punch. As you can see below, I’m an, “everything but the kitchen sink” kinda smoothie girl so throw it all in and enjoy!
2 bananas (preferably frozen)
2 cubes of frozen spinach
vanilla yogurt (I like the sugary ones, I know… it’s not cool right now but I do)
Oats
Flax seed
Chia seed
a handfull of frozen berries
a teaspoon of peanut butter
I’m going to be brave and go for a green smoothie at some point – The idea freaks me out for some reason. Do they genuinely taste good?
You prob love the fresh stuff but just in case you know you can get a bag of frozen spinach makes the task easier – although I’ve just thought maybe too big for smoothie making!

I was scared too but if you put berries in… It’s not even green! You def don’t taste the spinach but other greens might have a stronger taste. The bonus if making your own frozen is you can freeze organic and/or non-pesticide spinach (if you so wish… I just went for the cheapest option!)
I have a juicer and a blender and I don’t use either, I seriously need to change this!
This is a great idea, I have green smoothies pretty much every day alternating between kale or spinach mostly. Sometimes the bags of greens are so big that they go bad really quickly so this is a cool idea.
I totally agree. I’m way too lazy to buy fresh every few days so this works perfectly for smoothies.
Such a good idea! We go even lazier and put ALL our smoothie ingredients in freezer bags and then just whizz it up with some juice or milk – always lovely and cold! Prior to that we had so much fruit waste it was a bit depressing.
Even more lazy? NICE! Totally using this trick next time 🙂
I do this too – it’s also because otherwise my spinach goes gunky and I hate throwing food away!
