Inspired by Liz’s post about goal setting, I spent the holidays eating a lot of great Italian food and thinking about what I want my 2014 to look like. I’ve decided to set a word rather than a resolution this year, and my word is going to be: Action.
I’m going to do my best to take action on all things in my life in 2014. It seems obvious but all too often I let projects or ideas simmer for too long and never take the step of acting on them.
It’s also physical action I want to take more of. I want to run in more amazing places and see the world, bit by bit, by foot. I want to test myself on my bike and get out into the already really supportive and awesome women’s cycling community here in London and the South East. In 2013 I paid the registration fee for my first triathlon, so in 2014 I’m going to have to take some action in getting my swim/bike/run on.
An extension of action will be to enjoy the action. Enjoy the process, enjoy the journey, enjoy the training. I don’t want to take action as a means to an end, I want to take action because of the action.
I’ve already done a few pieces of action today – getting the ball rolling on stalled projects and very scary big future decisions. Feeling pretty chuffed of all my action I then walked right into my Christmas tree which is still up and realized that I should probably take some action on putting that away.
Wow good luck with your triathlon!! I did one last year and it was the most incredible experience!
I like ‘Action’ as a word for the year. I’m excited to see what you achieve this year (and can’t wait to finally meet you at Thunder Run!
Great start signing up for a triathlon!
