I never thought I’d be the one to run on vacation.  Ever.  But there is a massive empty beach here just outside Lagos, and I sort of have to stick to a training schedule for the Brighton Half Marathon, so Alex and I were up at 8am to jog before it got too hot.

This was our route from our hotel in the old walled city of Lagos, across the port and then along the amazing Meia Praia. In the high season Meia Praia is full of beach resorts, umbrellas, chairs and annoying people. During my run I imagined it to be a lot like Malibu Sands with Zach and friends working each summer.

(I have a very active imagination while running). In reality the beach looks like this, but since I can’t run with my camera – here are some Google images of the perfect running route.

The best part of the run was coming back to our hotel in time for the buffet breakfast.  Eggs, bacon, fresh squeezed orange juice, mangos, croissants, coffee, and 2 TYPES OF CHOCOLATE CAKE!!!
